Dining at The Old Inn on the Green is an extraordinary experience: fine wine, great food, attentive, knowledgeable service and the dining rooms illuminated only by candle light. Chef and Owner Peter Platt, along with his team, work to create innovative and memorable meals that are an event unto themselves. Currently, we are offering a $85 prix fixe menu with 5-6 choices per course every night we are open. The hours for dinner are Wednesday through Sunday 5:30 pm to 9:00 pm for both indoors and in an all new screened outdoor room. The wine list is graced with an array of thoughtfully selected estate bottled wines from France, California, Italy and around the world. In addition to candlelight, in the colder months there are wood burning fireplaces in each room. A copy of our current menu can be found on the home page of our website www.oldinn.com.

Market Place Tavern is the latest concept and restaurant for Market Hospitality Group (MHG). The Tavern which overlooks the Litchfield Green, is the oldest public building in town and one of the oldest penal facilities in the state. It was built in 1812 to serve as a jail for British prisoners during the War of 1812. A cell block and a three-story wing with additional cell blocks, which now is part of the restaurant’s bar area, was added in 1846. The jail closed in 1992 and was used as a treatment center for men serving prison sentences. It shut down again in 1993 and reopened in 1994 as a rehabilitation center for women facing incarceration. When that center closed, the state decided to sell it.The restaurant is open for lunch and dinner and features “American Tavern Food” with Craft Beers and Cocktails made with local spirits. The food is always delicious. This time we have to rave about the octopus appetizer and the monkfish entree. Will definitely order them again as well as the all time favorite the tuna tartare. Thanks for a delicious meal.

I went with a friend for our annual Christmas lunch at the Red Lion Inn. The server was very attentive and sought out answers when he did not have the information to respond to a question We had the duck comfit which was tender and delicious. Dessert was my favorite- brown sugar cake with ice cream. The whole experience was excellent.

What an incredible experience! The food, drinks, atmosphere, and service were all wonderful. Donna, our server for the evening, was incredible. Although this is a destination restaurant for us, we will be sure to add this into our annual rotation!

We had a very nice dinner at the Abner. Really enjoyed the lobster newberg . The rolls were great, reminded me of the ones we used to get at a local bakery when I was a kid. We both has the steak frites. The steak comes covered by a mound of French fries, it was hard to find the steak under them. It was all delicious and cooked to order. The room was nicely decorated for the holiday and the noise level was fine. The service was excellent. Really enjoyed it.
