Open seven days a week for lunch and dinner, Amalfi Cucina & Mercato - Downtown Atlanta is a traditional Neapolitan trattoria centered around an open kitchen featuring a 6,000 pound wood-burning brick oven imported from Italy. The 170 seat dining room also has large semicircular booths, custom wrought iron chandeliers along with Juliet balconies overlooking an Italian-inspired entryway. Originating in and the true pizza of Naples in the 1600s, Vera Pizza Napoletana is 12 inches or less in size, made from simple fresh quality ingredients from the Campania region of Italy and cooked at temperatures in excess of 900 degrees in approximately 60 seconds. This was about the most beautiful restaurant I've ever been to. The views are spectacular. The service is exceptional. It is pricy, but the ambiance was so nice I didn't think about it. It will be our special occasion place for dinner.

Great dinner after exciting Peach Bowl football game. We were delighted to find that there is a fantastic restaurant right in the Candler Hotel where we were staying. By George is named for the architects who designed this beautiful historic building. Our amazing server James gave us the "backstage" tour after a wonderful meal. Ask for him! We had lovely cocktails and yummy fluffy biscuits for appetizers, then thoroughly enjoyed our dinner. I had the fresh North Carolina trout and shared the yummy brussels sprouts with the table. My husband and sister enjoyed the lambshanks and my brother-in-law had shrimp and grits. The ambiance is elegant but not stuffy. Highly recommend.
