A contemporary take on the classic oyster bar, located in Fort Greene, Brooklyn, near BAM, Barclay's, the Paramount, and Atlantic Terminal. Beauty & Essex has an innovative design that starts in the restaurant’s entrance, a well-curated modern-day pawn shop replete with a saxophone, boom­box, quirky artifacts, vintage treasures, and an eclectic array of “one-off” pieces of jewelry. Continuing past the pawnshop, guests encounter a grand, circular staircase wrapped around a two-story custom chandelier, but only the adventurous will discover all that Beauty & Essex has to offer. With four distinct dining rooms (one private), two bars, a lounge, and a women’s bathroom complete with a salon including a luxurious sofa, and antique perfume bottles. The cuisine, much like the design, is intended to set a new course.     Very much enjoyed our evening. Great views and good food in the heart of Dumbo. Waterfront views if NYC, Brooklyn Bridge and Williamsburg Bridge. The whipped ricotta appetizer was excellent! Pizzas and pastas were all very good as well.

    A pleasant surprise to come upon Strange Delight- EXCELLENT warm and welcoming professional staff. Food is FRESH and plated beautifully. The overall ambiance and vibe was happy and upbeat. Great place for lunch and a nice way to enjoy a pre-Holiday meal in Brooklyn. We definitely will be back for dinner!!

    We came here for our engagement dinner and wow was it special, the restaurant was amazing and seated us right by the window to look out at Manhatten. The food was delicious at every coursing and the ambience was just magical. Thank you for topping off our special day, really appreciate all of your help!

    The food was surprisingly good and the service was absolutely amazing. I love the way the arepitas are resented so I don’t have to choose one. The monkfish and short rib were also a nice surprise.

    Our waitress was wonderful we were seated immediately and our appetizers came out in a timely manner and were great we ordered the mussels and the ackee toastones our main meal was jerk chicken and the red snapper which was also very delicious
