If you’ve ever enjoyed the 888 dining experience, you know it’s not like your average Bay Area Italian restaurant. Conveniently located in the heart of downtown San Carlos, 888 Ristorante Italiano brings authentic flavors of Italy to Laurel Street. 888 was created from a passion for Italian cuisine that’s deep-rooted in the Maddalena family. Owner Vince Maddalena and Chef Raul learned their craft through growing up in the restaurant industry. Specifically, Maddalena’s, owned by Vince’s dad for over 30 years in Palo Alto. When Vince’s dad closed shop, Vince knew he wanted to continue sharing his passion for food with the public. And so 888 was born! When it comes to cooking, we never take shortcuts. Almost all of our menu is made in-house and we keep things fresh by changing our dishes as seasons come and go.     One of our long time, favorite places for delicious food and warm and inviting service. We have been coming here for 2+ decades and a lot of customers are definitely even longer. The owner is so sweet and greets everyone like family, the staff are wonderful and always smiling. Everything on the menu is delicious and we usually get the lunch prefix as this is an ideal way to select from different options and the portions are just right. Can’t wait to come back each time!

    Oysters, Tuna Tartar, chowder, and pork loin were fantastic! The beet/crab salad not so much!! There was too much coarse black vegetation that was inedible, had no flavor and scratched the throat as went down, and there was almost no crab, but the beets were very good. This was the second time I have visited your restaurant - the location, the ambiance of the restaurant, the jelly fish wall, the service and the overall experience was excellent. My rating is AAA+.

    Amazing food. Live music was lovely. Fabulous ambiance and decor. Service was a little slow but welcome because we were not in a hurry and happy to spend more time to visit.
