Hard Knox Café offers San Francisco diners the best in southern home-style cooking. It is sometimes said that someone has gotten their education from the school of “hard knocks” meaning one born from experience rather than classroom training. The food never disappoints (Nonna’s meatballs, Caccio e peppe and pizzas are a favorites) and the service is great. The host was incredibly sweet and accommodating, and Gustavo our waiter was terrific. He had great knowledge of the food and he was very attentive throughout the meal.

My group of six ate four appetizers, five entrees, two wines and a dessert; every single dish was delicious. The server was solicitous and the manager was outstanding in getting us a quiet tablepointing out wines that paired well with the dishes we ordered. Notably, the Bahsteeyah was delicious and the hummus was creamier than any I've ever had. Each of us ready to return.
