Pull back the portico curtains and step into the historic downtown Newport mansion once owned by businessman Alfred Gwynne Vanderbilt that has been reimagined as a glamorous social hub with a culinary secret to discover at every turn. From an intimate dining room with an intriguing menu of savory local dishes to the sun-dappled Conservatory and dining al fresco in The Garden, the dining scene at The Vanderbilt is crackling with alluring eccentricities just waiting to be explored.Important Notes: Reservations are held for 15 minutes beyond the scheduled arrival time, and during peak service hours you may not be seated until your entire party has arrived. Once your party is assembled, we will offer you the next available table for a party of your size. Also, we do our utmost to accommodate all guest requests upon check-in, but unfortunately cannot guarantee any particular seating preferences.

A fresh take on American cuisine using the finest ingredients, served in a classy yet casual setting with a family-friendly atmosphere. We prepare delectable seafood, numerous gluten-free options, and natural meats raised without hormones or antibiotics wherever possible. All reservations will only be held for 15 minutes. Please call if a later arrival is needed and we will tell you our next available reservation.We are unable to honor more guests than made on the original reservation due to limited seating. We apologize, but guest number increases will not be able to be accommodated upon arrival to the restaurant.     The hostess thoughtfully offered us a table upstairs, explaining that a large party was expected downstairs and would be noisy. Upstairs, we could easily hear our friends across the table. Our server Arielle immediately welcomed us and soon took our orders. The Dry Dock fish was the best I ever had! Lightly battered, tender, moist.

    Perfect little casual lunch spot to kick off the new year! We loved our spot at the bar and the staff was so friendly! The kale salad with avocado is so yummy - paired with the baked clams it was the perfect lunch for a catch up with a good friend.

    This was a last minute choice, and we loved it from the moment we got there. The manager was kind, personable, and attentive. The waiter was efficient, the food was delicious, and the bartender fixed excellent drinks. The atmosphere was casual and comfortable. We would definitely return if in the area again.
