Sakura was established in 2009 as the first Japanese restaurant in Portsmouth. Since our opening night we have always strived to bring the taste of true Japanese cuisine to our customers, while adding friendly service, knowledge and a lot of enthusiasm for what we do.We have retained a lot of the features that made our restaurant popular in the Southsea area. Situated overlooking the water in Gunwharf Quays, Pho is a healthy Vietnamese restaurant that specialise in pho noodle soup, the national dish of Vietnam. Aside from pho, you can also expect to find amazing sharing starters, healthy salads, hearty rice bowls and decadent curries. They have a range of freshly made juices and also Vietnamese beers and a large wine and cocktail list. Pho’s menu is 40% vegan and nearly entirely gluten-free too. When we started out in 2017, we were cheffing up from the courtesy of our home in Portsmouth. It was all great fun and games until customers started showing up to our house for food collections… From there, we took a leap of faith, and a few box meals later, we had our very own market stall on Commercial Road. This was big for us. It was the first time we could connect with the community on a 1:1 basis and actually see customers fall in love after that first bite. Naturally, the food did it’s job, and as word spread, our small gazebo became a local sensation, bringing people together over plates of smoky and spicy delights.Spicing Up the CommunitySince 2017, our "fambily" has been serving up a modern twist on Jamaican cuisine and the community has been our rock. Come down to our 'Shack' in Portsmouth to experience where it all began and feel the vybez!

    We had a pre Christmas festive meal. The choices were very varied and it was difficult to choose. The venison pie was very tasty. All the meals were nice and hot although the temperature in the room was cool so the food cooled quickly. Service was nice and friendly and they did everything they could to make our meal a good experience

    We had a great evening, we were celebrating my friend’s 60th and I did say on the booking it was for a birthday, but nothing happened. Restaurants I’ve been to have always come out with something and made a bit of a fuss for a birthday.

    This is a vibrant busy eatery so if you like it quiet then it’s not for you! The staff are great….always smiling and helpful. We went on a Friday night and people were queuing out the door waiting for tables so prebooking is definitely recommended. The food is spicy as you would expect so if you want your fries with less spice then ask for the BBQ sauce to be left off. Overall a good taste of Jamaica…..just wish we had the sunshine to go with it!!

    The welcome at Pho was spot on. Helpful and attentive staff who made us feel very welcome. They know their menu well and are happy to advise on drinks and meals. The meals themselves were delicious and filling. As the food is freshly cooked they know the ingredients they are using and it all tastes fresh and fragrant. Able to cater for dowry needs easily and with minimum fuss.
