Named after Fanny Brice—the legendary movie, vaudeville, theater, and radio star portrayed by Barbra Streisand in her Oscar®-winning role in Funny Girl (1968)—the striking two-story, 10,000-square-foot space, conceptualized by the late architect Osvaldo Maiozzi, features a chef-designed open kitchen, elegant bar, and captain-based service style that nods to a bygone era, and offers diners cuisine by Chef Jun Bum Oh, with the support of Chef Eric Klein, SVP Culinary for Wolfgang Puck Catering. The restaurant is supported by Wendy Stark Morrissey, Brice’s granddaughter.

République, located in Miracle Mile, is owned by Chefs Walter and Margarita Manzke. Centered in the heart of Los Angeles, the historic building in which it resides was originally erected in 1929 by Charlie Chaplin, and later transformed into the iconic La Brea Bakery and Campanile Restaurant. République builds on this storied past, offering a gastronomic environment imbued with history and grandeur.     We have only been to Fanny’s one other time this year which is unusual for us as in previous years we were here more often. Tonight we were reminded of what we’ve been missing! Came early so that we could attend a screening at 7:30, and thus provided ourselves enough time to enjoy the always delicious cocktails and to share the always fresh and delicious simple salad, accompanied by their amazing focaccia with their garlic Boursin whipped butter. I had the delicious beef strips medium rare with great, crispy, seasoned fries and pasta with lobster. I topped off my steak with a glass of Nebbiolo! Everything great, and served by the charming, courteous and professional Ryan! We will be back sooner than later!!!

    One of the best culinary values in town, Meyers Manx Cafe in the Peterson Museum offers both incredible tasting food and a diverse menu at great prices. I LOVE the breakfast burrito here. The runny egg and crispy potatoes are what makes this burrito unique and delicious. I also love the chopped Italian and pizza here. Our waiter told us they use a Japanese tapioca flour that produces a New York-styled thin crust taste along with a crispy chewy texture. Incredible!
