Located in Oakland’s historic Grand Lake District, Bardo is a neighborhood lounge and restaurant inspired by the comfort and camaraderie of a mid-century dinner party. Drawing on the celebration and elegance of old school entertaining, we envisioned a space for friends and neighbors to enjoy amazing food, cocktails, conversation and great music. Our lounge is a swank living room, furnished with hand-picked finds from antique and vintage markets from Palm Springs to Portland. Our mezzanine dining room features a rotating menu of fresh, seasonal supper-fare with local and sustainably sourced meats, fish and produce. Wonderful experience and delicious each and every plate. I can’t wait to go back even just to sit at the bar for a cocktail and some duck rolls! It’s been a while since covid to experience a restaurant where the staff genuinely cares and provides top-notch dining service even though we had 2 kids with us for our special Pre-Thanksgiving occasion.

Delicious food that was deeply flavored and surprisingly bright (sometimes soul food can seem super heavy and overwhelming). A perfect brunch spot. I’m eager to bring others and to try their dinner menu. Chef and staff were very pleasant and professional.

I went when they barely opened as it was very nice and took some family members for the first time. They liked everything and enjoyed the ramen and appetizers. The staff attentive and friendly like always !

Everything my friend and I ate was absolute delicious, as well as beautifully presented. Service was excellent. Even loved the music they were playing. This is a wonderful place to celebrate a special occasion.
