Welcome to Nouveau Restaurant & Cellar Door.We are located at Balgownie Estate in Maiden Gully. Balgownie Estate is Bendigo’s oldest commercial Vineyard. We have been producing award winning wines from our first vintage back in 1972. Today you can visit our restaurant and cellar door and taste from our extensive selection of wines made from hand harvested fruit grown on their beautiful old vines that are now over 50 years old. Whilst here, take the opportunity to, dine in our restaurant for breakfast, lunch or dinner. Our menus feature contemporary Seasonal Australian Cuisine, sourced from premium local suppliers. For Breakfast enjoy a romantic Champagne Breakfast (our version of it anyway…!)

The natural smoky flavours and aromas created by this unique timber are something truly special. In the finest tradition of steakhouses, we use locally sourced meat and the very best in fresh, regional produce.Showcasing 350 wines, including 28 by the glass, including some seriously interesting wines curated by our inhouse Sommelier. Enjoy award-winning Balgownie wine right from the source, where our wine-making legacy first began back in 1969 with the planting of the first 5 acres of Shiraz and Cabernet Sauvignon in Bendigo.Balgownie Estate is a 5-star Halliday-rated Winery. Bendigo features a new Cellar Door, open-air deck, and a charming regional restaurant.The property is home to 70 acres of vineyards and winery plus modern homestead, and glamping accommodation.Winemaker Tony Winspear has been nurturing the Estate’s grapevines from bud to bottle since 1994, a hands-on winemaker, and very much at home in the cellar using traditional low intervention techniques.Our Grazing Menu is served from Monday to Friday in our Cellar Door Space or on the deck, Dinner is served Thursday to Tuesday in the Restaurant space or on the deck.

Please note: We only offer our wood fired pizzas Wednesday to Sunday including Friday and Saturday dinner.Please let us know if you if you have children included in your booking and require a high chair, we will do our best to accommodate.Some of our tables are high top tables with stools, please let us know if you prefer to sit at a regular table and we will do our best to make sure you're comfortable.The booking system will have either high top or low tables available. The Woodhouse Experience was sensational. We opted to include matching wines with each course and were surprised to note most of the selected wine were from the Heathcote region, supporting locals :) Every course was delicious and just the right serving size to leave us feeling satisfied, not full to the brim! Definitely our preferred fine dining venue

My friend and I enjoyed the beautiful day, view, delicious food and bubbles. We had excellent service with friendly knowledgeable staff. Being able to enjoy the experience in the peaceful ambience of the vineyard.

We had the French Cheese & Balgownie Wine Flight. Brilliant service - Michael was very informative and answered all our wine questions. The wine was delicious and paired so well with the cheese. Great views & ambient spot. Highly recommend!
