Since 1746, the building that houses this tavern has played a part in the establishment of our nation; first as a respite for stagecoach travelers expanding westward and later as a covert rendezvous point for George Washington, Marquis de Lafayette, and other leaders of the American revolution. It is believed that during the infamous winter of 1777–1778 at Valley Forge, a major figure in the Continental Army, master military mind Friedrich Von Steuben, designated the tavern as a secret black powder munitions stash for Continental Army couriers. All the while, the tavern continued to provide food, shelter and cheer to the hungry, weary soldiers fighting for their independence. Today, we honor our historic tavern’s tradition with a mission to raise the spirits of our guests. First class signing and service experience with Alaina. I don’t know how they do it, but even when the restaurant gets really busy the acoustics are so good that it feels like we are the only two people in the restaurant.

We had a wonderful lunch at Terrain. The Shrimp & Grits and the Beet & Burrata Salad were delicious. The service was great. We will definitely be back.

This was a birthday dinner and Wow! It was terrific! The steaks were perfect, presentation was lovely, service outstanding and a special birthday dessert caused these sugar free oldies to fall right off our diet! It’s expensive but a good value for a special occasion.

We had a great waitress named Nicole who not only took great care of the orders, food, and drinks- but also helped us by making paper numbers for our white elephant holiday gift exchange! She went the extra mile, was professional and personable.

This was a birthday lunch for a customer who frequents often with his family. There was a sign on the table that said "Birthday" but nothing was brought out to him, not even a mini dessert.
