A fresh take on American cuisine using the finest ingredients, served in a classy yet casual setting with a family-friendly atmosphere. We prepare delectable seafood, numerous gluten-free options, and natural meats raised without hormones or antibiotics wherever possible. All reservations will only be held for 15 minutes. Please call if a later arrival is needed and we will tell you our next available reservation.We are unable to honor more guests than made on the original reservation due to limited seating. Please call the restaurant directly to see if changes to your guest number can be accommodated. We apologize, but guest number increases will not be able to be accommodated upon arrival to the restaurant. Our two story building offer 2 bar areas, the first floor tavern and the second floor Burgee Bar. Located right on Thames Street, there is no better place in town to watch the hustle and bustle of downtown Newport. Our tavern area has high top tables for a casual, bar atmosphere, where you can gather with friends to enjoy a great meal, or a few beverages. Three dining rooms and three outside decks allow for plenty of dining space as well as the availability for private parties.Whether you are looking for casual snacks and cocktails with friends or a formal dining experience, Midtown Oyster Bar has everything you could possibly be looking for.**In order to provide the best service possible we are limiting table seating to parties of 8 or less. A credit card is required for reservations of 6 or more people. There will be a $50 charge for a "No Show/No Call" reservation.

Under the culinary direction of Chef Somoza, Flora’s menu captures the spirit of Mediterranean seaside towns from Saint Tropez to Capri to Marbella, spotlighting the bountiful seafood and vibrant produce that are hallmarks of coastal cuisine. With a passion for fresh ingredients rooted in his childhood in the Spanish countryside, picking wild blackberries and foraging mushrooms and wild asparagus, Chef Somoza is drawn to local, farm-to-table cooking.The Flora menu is made up of regional ingredients such as sweet corn, seasonal vegetables and fruits, local seafood and small farm sourced meats, and is anchored by a crudo bar and fish main courses including Dover Sole, Bank Scallops, pan seared halibut.     Great experience from start to finish. Friendly and attentive staff with great menu insight. We were four and shared the ceviche, fall salad, buratta and butternut squash salad, and Spanish-style garlic shrimp as our first course. Incidentally, their house-made sourdough is excellent. Three of us had the filet special with creamy mashed potatoes and broccolini; the fourth had the chicken paillard, which was excellent. The house-made ice creams were very good, white pistachio and a RI-only Autocrat coffee milk. The crème brûlée, however, was very sweet. Definitely go.

    This was a last minute choice, and we loved it from the moment we got there. The manager was kind, personable, and attentive. The waiter was efficient, the food was delicious, and the bartender fixed excellent drinks. The atmosphere was casual and comfortable. We would definitely return if in the area again.
