Built in 1591, the Tolbooth Tavern in Edinburgh was formerly part of the original Canongate Tolbooth. This medieval building was used to divide the Royal Burgh of Edinburgh and Canongate. Mamma Roma is an authentic Italian restaurant located at 4/7 Antigua Street Edinburgh.     I love this restaurant. It has a relaxed atmosphere and friendly staff. It feels bright, spacious and welcoming when you go in. The food is excellent. Today I had the Hoots Mon Benny, which was absolutely delicious. The best Eggs Benedict I've ever had. Prices are very reasonable. There was a good choice of gluten free options for my husband too. The only thing I would mention as a slight minus is that the restaurant has a "dog friendly" policy, which is becoming increasingly common in all sorts of places now. This doesn't take account of people with a fear of dogs, and those who simply think dogs don't belong in food establishments.

    My partner and I visited The Black Grape on Christmas Eve and had the pleasure of trying their festive menu. It was an unforgettable experience! The attention was absolutely wonderful; the staff was incredibly kind and attentive at all times, creating a warm and welcoming holiday atmosphere. Coming from Spain, we were excited to try something new, and the festive menu exceeded all our expectations. Every dish was a delightful surprise, full of unique flavors that were completely different from what we're used to back home. Each bite was crafted with care and truly captured the spirit of the season. If you're looking for excellent food and top-notch service, especially during the holidays, The Black Grape is the place to go. Highly recommended!
