Scala Osteria offers traditional Southern Italian, seafood-centered recipes meant to be shared with family and friends in our warm and vibrant dining room. Our menu is influenced by the traditional Italian osteria where creating simple yet delicious food is paramount, and our atmosphere is always inviting and full of life. While Slanted Door is opening this new location in Napa, it all began with an idea to open a Vietnamese crêpe stand or a noodle shop in the Tenderloin neighborhood. Charles Phan searched for a location but was told that there were already too many Vietnamese restaurants in the area. He moved the search to his own neighborhood: the Mission. He quickly found an available space on Valencia Street.The Slanted Door was born in 1995 with the goal of elevating Vietnamese food to the next level—modern design, sustainable local ingredients, quality teas, and wine pairings. The Slanted Door was quickly recognized and became too small to accommodate the reservation requests. The growing restaurant moved to South of Market in 2002. It was there that the team integrated a craft cocktail program, which was one of the first restaurants in San Francisco to offer craft cocktail menus. The Slanted Door moved again to the San Francisco Ferry Building in 2004.

    Another fabulous experience at Coles. Scratch that.. it was damn near perfect. No details overlooked this evening. Brian did a fantastic job taking care of us as we celebrated our son’s 22nd birthday. Crazy to think we have been going to Coles since before he was born!

    Their mothership restaurant, Don Giovani has been one of my favorites for years. Truly enjoyed this new place. Felt like I was walking into a New York restaurant. I knew the space previously and they did an outstanding job of reinventing it. The food was really fantastic...we went for meat instead of pasta and I have never been served a pork chop like the way they prepare it. Heads up, the portions are generous, and you might want to consider sharing salads (for sure) as well as mains. Only off comments...a glass of Schramsberg very high priced for what it is...and we had to wait for our table , but the place was packed for a Wednesday night...and can easily understand why one would want to linger at their table. Great staff, attentive, professional , and great moods. Will definitely return, great for a celebration.

    Delicious grilled salmon on top of spinach on top of polenta! Crème brûlée not to be missed! We shared the wonderful Napa cabbage salad—they don’t skimp on the bleu cheese in this one and there was plenty of salad . Loved the cheery Christmas music for lunch with my dearest friend. I had some bubbly and she had Sauvignon Blanc. The service and atmosphere was warm and friendly as it always is. I drove from Sonoma to Napa because this is one of my favorite restaurants in wine country.
