Covino is a small owner-run wine bar & restaurant in the heart of Chester. We serve daily-changing menu of seasonally inspired small plates, guided by the quality and provenance of ingredients, with a real focus on simplicity and flavour. Where possible we purchase local produce, including supporting local independent business right on our street. Our grain from the brewery is even fed to livestock- nothing goes to waste! We are an authentic Italian wine café, proud to offer quality Sicilian wines and spuntini appetisers across the UK. In the spring of 2013 something extraordinary happened. Two Italian guys in their twenties met in Manchester to find out that they shared a unique passion; they both loved and missed, the Italian Aperitivo, the ritual of drinking, nibbling and relaxing after work. A daily occasion to share moments of happiness with friends and family. By the end of that very same year, Veeno was born: a place where everyone could enjoy great wines and the most authentic Spuntini – platters of meats, cheeses and other appetisers imported from strictly selected Italian producers. Our wines come from Caruso & Minini, our family vineyard back in Sicily where great-grandfather Antonio planted the first vines in the XIX century. Since then, we have been working hard to ensure that our quality and tradition could flow from the bottles to the glass in your hand.

Lunch Menu - Two Courses for £30 / Three Courses for £35We are an independent restaurant in the heart of Chester offering microseasonal dining with menus designed around what's growing on our farm in Daresbury. Menus change every four to six weeks. Happy Hour is available in our lounge from 4-6pm on Thursday-Saturday with "Two for £15" Cocktails, wine and beer specials. Please note we are currently card-only and unable to accept cash. Standing out from the crowd, our 400-seater restaurant is housed in a grand Grade II listed building featuring a distinct neoclassical Greek façade and mixes an industrial look with a touch of opulence inside.     This was a special experience. Lovely calm ambience, friendly and attentive service, and unique dishes. We are lifelong vegetarians and eat a lot of vegan food, but this was out of the ordinary. Our waitress was very helpful and patient while we chose our order. The small plates were generous portions - an entree (perfect muhammara) and 4 plates shared between the 2 of us was more than sufficient. Delicious flavour combinations. My only comment about that is that quite a few have similar flavours, with tahini 'mayo' and chilli sauce, so it's good to choose a selection including other flavours if possible. The blackberry and ice-cream dessert was exquisite. And the bill was surprisingly reasonable. Next time we're in Chester we'll return to sample some other delights. Well recommended.

    The Country Living Magazine recommendation certainly didn’t disappoint. What an absolute gem. We had a superb evening. Faultless. The food was exceptional. Wine selection extensive. Service was fabulous. I would come back to Chester purely to revisit Covino!

    Clearly a popular venue early on a Saturday evening. More an Italian wine bar which includes food rather than a restaurant. Never the less the pizza and pasta dishes we had were up to expectations and tasty. We had wine at the cheaper end of the wine list (£22/bottle) which was quite acceptable. We will resist the temptation on future visits to try wine at £95 a bottle!
