Since 1746, the building that houses this tavern has played a part in the establishment of our nation; first as a respite for stagecoach travelers expanding westward and later as a covert rendezvous point for George Washington, Marquis de Lafayette, and other leaders of the American revolution. It is believed that during the infamous winter of 1777–1778 at Valley Forge, a major figure in the Continental Army, master military mind Friedrich Von Steuben, designated the tavern as a secret black powder munitions stash for Continental Army couriers. We always have a nice experience. I have feedback on the burrata mushroom flatbread - go to the length to make your own crust and have it be thinner with less pesto. It should be filled with mushrooms - that is why it is called a mushroom flatbread.

Great anniversary dinner. Salad and mushroom soup to start. Then my wife had beef Wellington, tender filet inside a flaky crust, mashed potatoes and broccoli. She loved it all. I had the Lamb Ragout, a delicious blend of braised lamb with potatoes, white beans, onions. Had a great flavor, very hearty. Finished with an Apple tart with vanilla ice cream. Drinks, pear martini and honey old fashioned, plus a glass of French merlot complemented everything. Service was measured and perfect.
