Founded in 1996 the ideas for the Marblehead Chowder House were actually hatched a few years before. Sitting at "The Barnacle," overlooking Marblehead Harbor one raw winter day, while the spume from the rough saltwater painted the windows and the Sam Adams Lager flowed freely, a concept was born. Casual, coastal and cozy - fresh seafood, fin fish, shellfish and hearty chowders in a warm, relaxing atmosphere that says "seaside" - a place that had tradition, patriotism, and a New England heritage about it. Fresh ingredients, house-made soups and chowders, comfort food with a twist freshly prepared to order were all musts! Features unique to New England were the foundation – Ipswich Belly Clams (aka steamers, softshells, pissers), fresh Lobster Roll, a Raw Bar with half-shell oysters and clams and, of course, live Lobsters arriving regularly. Absolutely delicious! This was our second time here and it was just as good as the first time. The food is great, our server was so nice. It’s a little pricey but well worth it for a special occasion. Try the French onion mashed potatoes, you will not be disappointed!

Had lunch at the King George in Bristol before going to the Xmas show. We were taken to our table as soon as we arrived. Charlie, our waiter took our drink order and told us about the special of the day, the cheeseburgers were cooked perfectly, a huge portion and delicious!

The food is great!! We had the fried mozzarella and buffalo chicken pizza, FANTASTIC!! The drinks were great. The only thing is that the tables are close together and some of the people were very loud. It’s worth going to for the food. The town in Bristol is really beautiful too!!
