Built in 1591, the Tolbooth Tavern in Edinburgh was formerly part of the original Canongate Tolbooth. This medieval building was used to divide the Royal Burgh of Edinburgh and Canongate. The Tolbooth Tavern is a cosy traditional Scottish pub full of character and charm. The small exterior gives way to a spacious bar and mezzanine dining area. It boasts a fantastic spot along the Royal Mile. Mamma Roma is an authentic Italian restaurant located at 4/7 Antigua Street Edinburgh. Welcome to Down the Hatch - EDINBURGH!We are a diner focusing on diner style food with big flavour, fresh ingredients, huge taste and all things Canadian!! Under 18s must be accompanied by an adult and are not permitted from 8pm onwards. We have a 10 minute grace period for your booking. Please give us a call if you are running late for your booking.Your table will be booked for 1 hour 15 minutes for bookings of up to 6 people; and 1 hour 45 minutes for bookings of 7+.We have a limited number of outside tables.     Wonderful meal for our 45th anniversary. The service was friendly and efficient. The food was absolutely excellent. We've been here a number of times and we find it to be so reliable. Yes, it is expensive, but the quality and experience are top notch every time.

    We did the Steak and Side for £19.50 menu on NY day. Waiter was attentive and everything was timely. Food was delicious, very nice steak, beautiful taste and cooked perfectly. Lovely selection of sides. Wine was expensive as expected .. Pudding was nice but steak and chips were definitely worth the visit. Have already recommended.

    This is probably my favourite steak restaurant in Edinburgh due to the fine dining aspect and amazing quality of food. Absolutely stunning meal although I do have a couple of downsides unfortunately this time round! We were sited next to a group with a dog that kept barking, I was more shocked dogs were allowed in under the tables for hygiene, and other guests courtesy. It did ruin the ambience of treating your self’s to a high class experience.. when we came in we usually are greeted upstairs but we stood waiting for a while and travelled downstairs were no one host seemed to be as well. The lovely polish lady serving us was extremely warm and welcoming which was a good touch.
