The Grain House Restaurant is located on the picturesque 10-acre estate of the Olde Mill Inn in Basking Ridge, NJ. The Grain House structure was originally built as a barn in the 1760’s and was used to store grain for American Revolutionary soldiers. The barn was later moved to its current location and opened as a restaurant in the 1930’s. Today, the Grain House is a renowned restaurant in North/Central New Jersey, with a comfortable, casual ambiance. The restaurant serves innovative, traditional and contemporary interpretations of American cuisine with some added international accents, prepared under the direction of Executive Chef John Benjamin. This is my favorite spot for a wonderful steak dinner and tremendous service. My husband’s j steak was cooked well done instead of medium and the manager came over right away and has a bigger piece of filet mignon cooked right away, and even paid foe the steak. While my husband waited for his steak to be cooked, the waiter also ask if he’d like a shrimp cocktail to hold him over. Capital Grill is not only delicious, professional and top notch service, but truly a place where they want their customers to leave extremely happy.

Lovely little place with good food. Kid friendly which is a plus or not depending on what you want. Strange layout with little privacy so not very intimate. Staff is very friendly.
