Jack Thompson, of the Thompson Organization and the Black Bass Hotel, purchased the Golden Pheasant in July of 2019 and plans to reopen in the new year. Christopher Hirsheimer and Melissa Hamilton—the women behind Canal House Station—are cooks, writers, and artists. In 2007 they founded Canal House, which includes a publishing venture and a culinary, photography, and design studio. Their cookbook "Canal House Cooks Every Day" received a James Beard Award in 2012. In 2019, Christopher and Melissa opened Canal House Station, a hidden gem tucked into an elegantly restored 1870s train station on the banks of the Delaware River in Milford, NJ. Their idiosyncratic, modern American cuisine is inspired by local ingredients that are ripe and in season in Hunterdon and Bucks County. They are two women, cooking together, and sharing their love of gathering people around the table to eat good food. The Ghost Light Inn’s restaurant, Stella, is inspired by local ingredients from the region’s best farmers and artisans. A lovely dinner once again for our group. The steaks were popular this time. We had three different steak dinners and a wonderful Caesar salad. The desserts are always fun and delicious. Excellent service without being annoying.

An outstanding experience. I have been going there for years, and every year celebrate my birthday there. The atmosphere is restful and comforting, the staff a pleasure and the restaurant outstanding. I love the bar.

Outstanding and fun! 4 of us attended Friday Spaghetti night with "local's" along with joined tables, beautiful warm environment, perfect service and the home made pasta bolognese with a crisp salad, just right garlic bread and homemade Tiramisu ice cream was just what we needed on a cold December evening. Can't wait to return!
