Elizabeth and I were very excited to open our restaurant in Downtown Stuart. After years of visiting our parents our hearts led us back here each time we considered a different location. Our son Taylor (our Executive Chef) and I, both have a culinary education and all three of us are extremely passionate about quality food,drinks and hospitality. We thoroughly enjoy taking great care of our guests. “the Gafford” is named after my grandparents who taught us how to enjoy life, have fun and laugh (especially at ourselves). My grandfather was in the Air Force and hospitality business all of his life and taught me so much about business, cooking and hospitality. I can remember when I was young visiting my grandparents on their farm. My grandfather used to teach me how to grill. My favorite dish to cook together was a giant Ribeye steak. On our menu, that is our signature item and we call it “the Gafford.” Welcome to the Gafford where casual meets upscale.

The Stuart Boathouse is a local's favorite waterfront dining location. The beautifully restored 1920's Restaurant is located directly on the river in downtown Stuart next to the band shell. Specializing in fresh caught seafood, oysters, sushi, as well as many favorites for the land lovers. Accompany dinner with a great bottle from our wine list or one of our signature cocktails. The Stuart Boathouse is great for special occasions or for just hanging out with some friends. The Stuart Boathouse is open seven days a week serving lunch and dinner.     We love Hudson’s on the River. The ambiance cannot be beat with views of the river and the bridge. It’s so relaxing dining patio side. The food has always been on point with delicious options and flavor combinations. And the staff is very friendly and personable. Sara the assistant manager is so sweet and hospitable as well as the Manager, Ben.

    We had a great Valentine’s Day dinner for two. James, our waiter, was great to point out items on the menu and was always available when we needed something. The dinner was excellent as everything was fresh and cooked to order. We always have a great time at The Gafford.

    We had a great time celebrating a birthday! Pastry chef went out of her way to make a special cake even more special, the entire staff kept the secret until candle time, the kids had a great time playing on the patio with the other children, and all the adults had a wonderful time during our family celebration! Oh and the food was AMAZING! Highly recommend!

    This was our first time to the steakhouse as we were from out of state visiting our family. The food was excellent as we shared the 48 oz porterhouse steak, the ceasar salad and for the sides Mac n cheese and augratin potatoes. The steak was cooked to perfection and plenty for the 4 of us to share. The server was Dawn and she was so personable, friendly and really knew the menu when we asked questions. The ambiance was really nice and not loud so we could talk. I recommend this restaurant to anyone that loves steak, yes it is expensive but you’re paying for tasty food. We definitely will come back when we visited the family.
