The 1740 General Stanton Inn was named best new restaurant in Southern Rhode Island. Guests delight in traditional Rhode Island cuisine with emphasis on fresh local seafood-- Oysters, clams, calamari, swordfish, shrimp, scallops and our signature dish, Portuguese Cod. Our friendly bartenders excel at making Martinis, Old fashioneds and craft cocktails. Local craft beers are on draft, and the wine list is comprehensive. Located in the beach community of Charlestown, Rhode Island, The General Stanton is the quintessential New England Inn with charming colonial architecture which dates back to the 1700's. The Inn is rich in history having hosted George Washington and three US Presidents. The Inn was a stagecoach stop, underground railroad safehouse and an illicit gambling house in the roaring 1920's. You will enjoy staying or dining in comfort.

Situated within the Main Lodge at The Preserve Sporting Club & Resort, Double Barrel Steak offers both the public and overnight guests a rustic, inviting setting to enjoy modern American steakhouse-inspired cuisine. The seasonal menu is thoughtfully curated to provide an engaging and memorable dining experience. In homage to Rhode Island’s 'Ocean State' moniker, the restaurant features 'ocean steaks' such as swordfish, halibut, and tuna. Dine in one of our custom designed Igloos By the Sea at The Coast Guard House. There is an igloo rental fee for $100 for three hours. Each igloo is outfitted with a Bluetooth speaker, fireplace and heater. However, we do recommend dressing warmly and/or in layers. Our full menu is available for your enjoyment. We can not guarantee any specific igloo. Igloo reservations can be cancelled in inclement weather. There is a credit hold for $20 per person to complete your reservation. Your card will only be charged if you cancel a week or less or do not honor your reservation.

    Our server and other waitstaff were fantastic! We had a leisurely dinner and never felt rushed. Dinner was lovely but dessert was the winner tonight. Decorated beautifully for Christmas…greens, wreaths, so many candles glowing and the twinkly lights everywhere made it feel like a Christmas wonderland (side note) because the lighting is dimmed so can enjoy the decor was a big hard to read the menu at the table Maybe an extra little table lamp would help 10 out of 10 experience The Coast Guard is is consistently at the top of the list. You can always count on a great meal and a great experience with some of the best wait staff in the state.
