The Winding Stair Bookshop & Café became a famous Dublin landmark in the 1970s and 1980s. Named after the Yeats poem and in honour of its winding staircase, it is overlooking the river Liffey, with an iconic view of the Ha'penny bridge. As a popular meeting place for writers, musicians and artists, it was a well known hub for debate and creativity with many poems written, novels penned and movies shot within its walls. In 2006, Elaine Murphy brought this much-loved spot back to life as a restaurant, championing seasonal, Irish produce. The bookshop, located on the ground floor, was retained, as were many of the old bookshelves, photos and memories. The room retains its timeless charm with stripped wood tables and floors, and Bentwood café chairs.The view remains as quintessentially Dublin as ever.The food is good, old-fashioned home cooking, with produce sourced from artisans within the island. Drink sare local and international craft beers & wines from stellar producers.

The Woollen Mills has been one of the most iconic buildings and businesses in Dublin for over one hundred years, and to have taken over this site is a serious privilege. Much like our award-winning sister restaurant next door, The Winding Stair, we feel like we are custodians of something very special... a piece of history (James Joyce worked here, how unbelievable is that?!) and we must do it proud! Spanning over four floors and with a glorious roof terrace overlooking the River Liffey. The Woollen Mills is quintessentially Irish, local and of its locale.     Excellent service so quick with bringing food and drinks very attentive. Very accommodating to allergies my mum is a coeliac and they were accommodating to her from the starter to dessert. Delicious food.

    The atmosphere and service was really good. Our starters, the sea bass (cold dish and spicy but really tasty) and the satay prawns were both excellent but definitely not blown away by the main courses tbh. Not your typical Thai food restaurant first of all. Could be a good thing I guess but fish had bones in it, which isn't a major thing, but first time in a long time that's happened and my main course was some sort of mince meat and tasted nice but way way to salty.

    Amazing restaurant with great service. The ambiance was sensational and just right. It is a very intimate setting that makes you feel like you are in an exclusive restaurant. Highly recommend this restaurant as the value you get for your money is incredible. You can easily pay more for the same meal somewhere else, but I wouldn't recommend that. If I am ever back in Dublin again, I will come back.

    Had a delicious meal here. The boneless Coq was delicious. Loved that they were a little crispy. Chicken was cooked perfectly. Filet mignon is a favourite and didn’t disappoint. Cooked perfectly and the side of garlic and Camembert gratin which broccoli and green beans were perfect accompaniment. Was too full for dessert but the other all had mouse, crème brûlée and banoffee and everyone loved theirs. Pornatar Martinis were so good and a glass of Sauvignon blanc really nice too! Perfect way to kick off our Christmas festivities
