Y Sospan can be found just off the market square in Historic town Dolgellau. Dating back to 1606, Y Sospan has a rich past and there is plenty of charm to be found in this old stone and slate building.Y Sospan serves food all day, from a hearty full Welsh breakfast in the mornings, coffee and homemade cake, lunches and a seasonal menu for evening meals. So, no matter what time day you are passing, there will always be something here for you.Our menu is carefully thought out to reflect the best of this beautiful region, Snowdonia and prepared on site by our expert chefs.We have plenty of seating, with downstairs providing a cosy place for a coffee with friends. Welcome to Aberdunant Hall where we have our fantastic outdoor heated terrace (during peak season), cosy restaurant with an ambient atmosphere in which to dine. Our Menu consists of a number of classic dishes, steaks and meats from the Grill as well as a collection of more sophisticated plates. As we are now in our Winter Season Dinner is served Friday & Saturday evening with our fabulous Home cooked Carvery on Sundays. We only serve quality wines and beers and the tastiest food which is sourced from local suppliers. Adam Ellis our Exec Chef has designed our menus with a wide variety of options for special diets and with just a little tweak can be altered to suit the majority or diets. We also have an area for guests who wish to bring their dogs when you dine. However please note that this must be notified in advance. A lovely evening fantastic food and service. We ate with a two youngest granddaughters at 5pm everything was perfect. So whether your eating early with children, eating later with friends or a romantic meal for two. The potted lobster never disappoints.

The carvery was lovely again and we had gorgeous desserts. It is such good value as the carvery is free for children. The staff are welcoming and friendly.

Another fabulous meal at the Chef's Table, the food is always spectacular and the service warm and genuinely friendly. Lobster tail to start with Venison marinated in sloe gin as a main finishing with Christmas pudding was a great way to start our Christmas. Thank you Liam and the team, you are a magician!!!

We planned a weekend break in Dolgellau and Y Sospan was booked two weeks before the trip. We last ate there in September 2023 so being keen to visit again is a strong recommendation. We both wanted the lamb shank and it was outstanding in quality and quantity. It's a really interesting building, the service was excellent, the whole experience just what we hoped for. We did, in fact, return for lunch, without booking, on Saturday as we were keen to give the Cafe Menu a try. It'll be on our wish list anytime we are in North Wales and want a decent meal.
