Bar Chelou is a neo-bistro that is both a distillation of Chef Doug Rankin's broad gastronomic interests and a deeply personal expression of his individualistic style. 'Chelou' (French slang for ‘strange’ or ‘unexpected’) is both the name and unifying theme of the restaurant, which draws from a range of culinary traditions and service styles to create something personal, novel, and fun. Castaway is an amazing location. Elegant, sophisticated and welcoming to all. We got to sit in the patio/veranda view section overlooking the city and beyond. The food was delicious and had no leftovers from us.

We arrived before our reservation time. The host was able to sit us sooner. A great start. Our server Emely was great for how busy it was. And we also had one of the managers come check up on us a few times which was a nice touch. The meat cuts were great this time around. The drinks are always amazing both from the bar and the mobile cart. We dine at Fogo often and experiences like these are what keep us coming back. Both at the Pasadena location and the Irvine location.
