Opera Tavern is a beautiful two-storey bar and restaurant in the heart of central London’s theatre land. Located on Catherine Street we are opposite the Drury Lane Theatre, seconds from the Opera House, a stone’s throw from The Strand and a lovely walk across Waterloo Bridge from the South Bank.     Such a beautiful restaurant! Everything about it was perfect: service, food, ambience. Will definitely return! We were going to see Mamma Mia, which was literally across the street from the restaurant.

    Fantastic dishes, had two different fish dishes for main course and they tasted lovely and cooked just right. Desserts were also very good. Nice, private feel to the place. Will return.

    My son and two friends went for his birthday. I wrote on the booking form it was his birthday and it was so funny to get a video message with everyone singing to him with a candle in his pudding. They had a great time, so thank you!

    The staff greeted us kindly. Unfortunately, they couldn’t have our table ready when we arrived on time so we had to wait 10-15 mins. But we were given a nice corner table. We ordered from the fixed price menu: pumpkin soup, chicken and ham terrine, mussels, steak tartare, creme brûlée, and steamed Christmas pudding. Food was excellent on the whole. I think the mussels were a bit too creamy and didn’t need that much cream. But the quality of the mussels was very good. Jasmine tea was of excellent quality! Table wine was so, so and we should have trusted the waiter on this one. We wished we’d ordered better wine. Service was very good overall. Nice atmosphere, good quality food and tea. Cannot wait to go back and try the burger.
