In 1835, the Bofarull family founded one of the most charismatic restaurants in the city, Can Bofarull, in the most emblematic part of the Gothic District, near Las Ramblas in Barcelona. Over time, the restaurant was renamed in honour of one of its most famous dishes, Los Caracoles (Snails). Since then, four more generations of the Bofarull family have managed to maintain the excellent standard of it's high quality traditional cooking.The restaurant's well-earned fame has spread all over the world and is now an absolute must for all those visiting our city. The first trail-blazing Taller de Tapas, opened in 2003, is set on a beautiful square in the shadow of the Eglesia del Pi and a short stroll from the world famous Boqueria food market. Take a break from sightseeing to sit in the entertaining square and watch the world stroll by while fuelling up on rocket and local goat´s cheese salad, some delicious Patatas Bravas or steamed Mediterranean mussels. Or, take a table inside to watch your order being cooked from fresh in the bustling open kitchen. Converting the centuries old building into something so contemporary, yet respectful of tradition was a labour of love. So is the food that Sant Josep Oriol serves.

    Our family of eight, including four kids and four adults, had a wonderful Christmas Eve dinner at this restaurant! The food was exceptional—especially the black ink paella, which was perfectly cooked and served right on time. The festive ambiance added to the magic of the evening, making it a truly memorable experience for everyone. The staff went above and beyond by preparing our table with our name on it, adding a thoughtful and personal touch. They even accommodated us when we arrived an hour earlier than planned. Highly recommended for families looking to celebrate special occasions with great food and outstanding service!

    Gilda was our favourite choice of restaurant in Barcelona. It ticked all boxes …. great food, lovely ambience, lively & friendly staff & value for money. It would rank top of my recommended places to eat in Barcelona. Book it! You wont be disappointed.

    We saw the Paella on a list for best in the city and it absolutely stood up to the hype. If you’re in the Gothic Quarter, this spot is an easy 5 minute walk from the main attractions and it has a great mix between upscale and relaxed ambiance. The paella is incredible and the service is personable. The drinks are authentic and overall we’re relieved we went to this place for paella before leaving Barcelona. Definitely recommend, and I don’t even leave reviews like that
