Y Sospan can be found just off the market square in Historic town Dolgellau. Dating back to 1606, Y Sospan has a rich past and there is plenty of charm to be found in this old stone and slate building.Y Sospan serves food all day, from a hearty full Welsh breakfast in the mornings, coffee and homemade cake, lunches and a seasonal menu for evening meals. So, no matter what time day you are passing, there will always be something here for you.Our menu is carefully thought out to reflect the best of this beautiful region, Snowdonia and prepared on site by our expert chefs.We have plenty of seating, with downstairs providing a cosy place for a coffee with friends. Welcome to Aberdunant Hall where we have our fantastic outdoor heated terrace (during peak season), cosy restaurant with an ambient atmosphere in which to dine. Our Menu consists of a number of classic dishes, steaks and meats from the Grill as well as a collection of more sophisticated plates. As we are now in our Winter Season Dinner is served Friday & Saturday evening with our fabulous Home cooked Carvery on Sundays. We only serve quality wines and beers and the tastiest food which is sourced from local suppliers. Adam Ellis our Exec Chef has designed our menus with a wide variety of options for special diets and with just a little tweak can be altered to suit the majority or diets. We also have an area for guests who wish to bring their dogs when you dine. However please note that this must be notified in advance. Should we not be advised of your requirement prior to arrival we not be able to accommodate.

Went for Birthday Meal with wife and son . Previously booked. We felt welcomed and warmly expected. The atmosphere was comfortable and relaxed. The service was good humoured, polite and informative. The food was splendid particularly recommending the crab claw linguini, the twice baked soufflé and crab rarebit. All in all a very pleasant dining experience.

The carvery was lovely again and we had gorgeous desserts. It is such good value as the carvery is free for children. The staff are welcoming and friendly.

We planned a weekend break in Dolgellau and Y Sospan was booked two weeks before the trip. We last ate there in September 2023 so being keen to visit again is a strong recommendation. We both wanted the lamb shank and it was outstanding in quality and quantity. It's a really interesting building, the service was excellent, the whole experience just what we hoped for. We did, in fact, return for lunch, without booking, on Saturday as we were keen to give the Cafe Menu a try. It'll be on our wish list anytime we are in North Wales and want a decent meal.
