Bluegrass is a casual restaurant located in Highland Park. With a cozy setting nestled into the west side of town it is a true destination dining location. Complete with a warm friendly bar and an American flare, Bluegrass blends in a little Southern influence into its repertoire. The wine and beer selections are all American, along with a full back bar, all hand selected to echo the quality of the fare. Made from scratch, family recipe Italian cuisine, in Highwood since 1932, and at its current location since 1982. Serving a selection of Fresh Seafood delivered daily including Salmon, Whitefish, Mussels, Calamari..... All the classics are here, homemade pastas, hand carved and pounded out Chicken and Veal Parmigiana, Limone, Piccata, Calabrese, and of course Lasagnas, Meatballs, Chicken Vesuvio, and many more, and of course homemade desserts. Also, we offer some of the best thin, crisp crust pizza, which was the first pizza served on the North Shore at Scornavacco's since 1944.

    I really enjoyed the sushi and the service, but we were seated next to an unruly table of high school girls. The girls made so much noise while one girl was sharing pictures of her boyfriend’s privates that it made dining with my adult daughter pretty uncomfortable. Most of that is not the restaurant’s fault, except they allowed the unmissable behavior continue for the entire 45 minutes that we were seated next to them.

    Bluegrass was a pleasant surprise. Great variety on menu and the waitress explained options well. Met the owner Joanie and manager tableside checking on us and learning about each other. Bar service good with Hurricane and ale. Our party of two dined on pulled pork sandwich, Rémoulade Salad topped with lump crab and added a serving of fried crawfish. Delicious! Tried the shot of Gumbo and was not disappointed. Finished with gifted serving of Chocolate Chip Bread Pudding. Going back to try more southern menu choices.
