Awesome as always! STRONGLY recommend this for locals and those visiting NYC…the latter will really get a great sense of the NYC vibe, whether you are looking for a family-friendly environment or for a day/night out with pals in search of great food and fun cocktails from the Smith’s top shelf mixologists. They really cover all bases with some of the best and warmest service in town (hold the unwarrantedly rude NYC attitude, please!). Just go and see for yourself - you will not be disappointed…CJ

Our visit today was an annual celebration which started at a restaurant called Christ Cella (if I spelled it correctly) in 1982. We bounced around at every meaningful steakhouse thereafter, but settled on Sparks perhaps 20 or more years ago. We absolutely love it. Today was no exception. The food was, as always, wonderful. The steaks and sea bass were prepared perfectly and presented in the same manner. Hector took care of our party and was great. I cannot say enough great things about Sparks. Thanks for being there ....

To be fair, we were a party of 13. Not S&W fault, our table was delayed to due guests who wouldn't leave after paying and we were seated almost an hour after our reservation. The staff was beyond impeccable, but the main course, though delicious, came out warm to cold. Our only complaint. One of my guests, who had ordered lobster, had their dish ice cold and did not eat it at all and S & W graciously removed it from the check. Otherwise, we had a wonderful time.

There were 10 of us & we had made reservations at 5 pm as we had 7 pm theater tickets. Our table was ready for us upon arrival & our waiter was friendly & on point from start to finish. Service was great without feeling rushed & his wine suggestion was perfect. The portions are huge so we started with the calamari & Caesar salad which was plenty for all of us & both very good. We chose 4 dishes, Chicken Parmesan, Chicken Scaloppine, Rigatoni & Broccoli, & Penne alla Vodka & all were delicious. We all commnted that the Penne was the best we’d had as the sauce was not too heavy & perfectly spiced. Although we could have only ordered 3 dishes, we all enjoyed the variety of the 4 choices. We finished off with cappuccinos for the table & made it to the theater with 15 minutes to spare. We couldn’t have picked a better restaurant & the bonus was it was very reasonable. Aretsky’s Patroon is now our favorite New York restaurant. Period. From the moment we entered we were warmly greeted snd shown to our table. A few minutes later Gene Aretsky came up to our table to thank us for our patronage and to make sure we found everything to our liking. He was followed by our waiter, Stefan, an exemplar of elegance and efficiency. We ordered our meal — we split a Caesar salad, my wife ordered the halibut and I ordered one of their signature steaks. Then, as we were enjoying our salad, the owner, Ken Aretsky, approached our table and made us feel like old friends. It was a memorable evening to say the least. The food was excellent, both beautifully presented and prepared to perfection. Aretsky’s Patroon should be at the top of the list for anyone looking for a restaurant that lives up to the best New York that the city has to offer.
