Such amazing food - i had the mushroom short rib pasta - WOW. We head into the North End regularly- and Lucia’s easily holds it own. I put in my reservation note that it was our wedding anniversary and they came out with two cannolis with a candle! Our server and everyone at the restaurant was so nice - thank you Wife loved her Martini - having drunk 100’s in her lifetime- i would say she is something of an expert. 😀

Pros: Nice lively ambiance, great server. Bread and herbed olive oil very good. Pappadew pepper appetizer interesting and good. Enjoyed the Chianti we hadn’t had before. Cons: Ceasar salad overdressed making it hard to enjoy. Short rib with mushrooms and pasta all wrong-lukewarm, very little pasta in a thick, gluey, oddly flavored sauce. Seems the problem is the menu is way too big and dishes then are not able to be made to order. Almost $200 for one bottle of wine, one app, and two salads and entrees. Which would have been ok if the food was good. Will definitely not return unless we hear significant changes have been made.

Food was delicious, from the hostess, bartenders and waitstaff all were top notch. A hidden gem and we will be back.

I ordered the arancini and eggplant parm. The arancini was tasty but both could have been hotter. It seemed a bit like the eggplant was assembled and reheated rather than prepared fresh. The sauce has great flavor. We had a nice evening and the meal was well paced. The restaurant was not as crowded as normal and I feel like if we were there on a Sat night things mights have been a bit tastier.

Great food for a great price, would be twice as expensive in the greater Boston area. Knowledgeable staff who were able to accommodate a special meal request. I included in the reservation note that this was a birthday celebration and they provide a free dessert to the celebrant.

Hidden gem! Worth the trip to Ayer. Wine list is excellent & menu is extensive. The lobster & truffle butter pasta is next level. Too cold to sit outside now, but the outdoor seating is coveted in season.
