Macellaio RC is a growing family of three Italian restaurants in London. Our restaurants are most famous for its fine steak. In fact, Macellaio means "butcher" and we like to call our steakhouses the butchery with tables. The steak we serve is exclusively from the Fassona beef breed, sourced from special mountain valleys in the north of Genoa. We take pride in sourcing incredible authentic Italian ingredients, food with utmost respect, preparing it with love, and expertly cooking each dish bringing to life a delightful trattoria dining experience. We had an early lunch before the theatre, we thoroughly enjoyed the food, and the service was excellent throughout. We will definitely return and recommend.

We were early, the staff welcomed us and found us a table!!! Service was great! Food was delicious and, for London, not badly priced at all. A lovely pre theatre dinner. Steak was wonderfully cooked and the garnishes were perfect.

We booked Marcellaio early, at 6, before going to the Ballet at Sadlers Wells, which is a short walk away. The entrance looks like a butcher’s shop, with all the different beef on display. In fact the name means ‘Butcher’ in Italian. The service was amazing and our waitress and the owner were brilliant and engaging. They are really passionate about their ingredients, wine and good cooking. We had beef fillet and this was perfectly cooked to order and served on a hot stone plate. We have eaten across the globe and this was amongst the best we have had. The truffle roast potatoes are super. We also had carrot, cooked in marrow and beef dripping - awesome. And some beautiful broccoli. A really nice red wine to go with it and all in all a great experience. We will definitely come back. Quite quiet when we arrived but buzzing by the time we left at about 7.10. Exmouth market is a busy street in the evening with a great vibe. Enjoy!

Sat at a table at the back between the computer and a fire door. They kindly moved us to a better table. Options for tables limited by layout of restaurant which is not great. Then waited ten minutes before asking if we could order a drink. The maitre was happy enough but the staff while eager were not use to the work. Another delay again before we asked if we could order. They do good enough steak but apparently can’t make any chips due to the fryer being broken. These were substituted by 3/10 quality roast potatoes. Not crispy/crunchy pale. Green salad was good. Had a Hereford t bone steak to share. We asked for rare. It was more medium. Very nice steak but half the fillet was missing.! The butchery could have been better with a few chewy gristly bits. Steak flavour was good. Nice bottle of wine but service need to know how to present it. Staff really nice and polite but clearly not had much training. Overall a bit average.

Excellent service and very high quality steak shared with 4 of us. Not cheap, but top quality food and setting. Very friendly waiting staff.
