The Tartar Frigate is one of the only 18th century flint restaurants in Kent. Widely renowned as one of the best seafood restaurants in Kent, the harbor restaurant boasts stunning panoramic views over Viking Bay. Our menu is comprised of snacks, appetisers, larger plates and deserts made entirely in-house* and their flavour profiles are amplified with chillis, herbs and citrus being heavily inspired by Los Angeles' multiculturalism.
Our restaurant is compact and cosy with no extra space to accommodate prams and large dogs - if you do need to bring your dog to dinner please ensure they are comfortable in a busy restaurant atmosphere and are happy sitting on your lap or fit comfortably under your table. We welcome children in the restaurant however we do not have highchairs or a children’s menu. We have tailored the room to provide a fun, grown-up and safe space for all our guests and team.

Our ingredients are carefully sourced from the best suppliers and many of our dishes are made with speciality Denominazione di Origine Protetta (DOP) foods direct from Italy.
As well as sourcing the best Italian ingredients, we’ve also developed our own special pizza base recipe. Our UNICA pizza dough is made with a multigrain blend of flours that is vitamin-rich and packed with fibre while delivering the same delicious taste. Low in sugar and high in antioxidants, this is pizza that is good for you!

Good drinks and wine selection and for a luxury meal the prices are more than justified. Only minor thing was that the restaurant was strangely empty - however this led to excellent service and a nice private meal. A place like this should be busy most nights. They also did a lovely plate with 3 sweets on it for my other half’s birthday which were all home made and so tasty. It is such a relaxed atmosphere here that it’s a real pleasure to eat here.
