Moshi Moshi Sushi and Izakaya is a woman-and-PoC owned, full-service Japanese restaurant in the heart of historic Ballard. We specialize in traditional Japanese sushi and cuisine, using the highest quality ingredients available. In addition to our amazing sushi, we offer an extensive menu of hot items and entrees, sure to provide something for everyone.

Be sure to see our custom-built LED cherry tree from our upper level dining area!

Please note street parking on Ballard Ave is extremely limited. Ballard Landmark parking garage is located under the building for $2-$3/hour. Garage entrance is on Leary Way, next to Caffe Fiore. From the garage, take the elevator to street level, exit to street, and we are immediately to the right.

The sushi is great, they have an extensive menu with options for all kinds of dietary restrictions and great cocktails. However, the service can be hit or miss and has not been great recently. I still love the restaurant but be aware that even with a reservation service is very slow and can be frustrating.

Service was flat out awful. Server gave us the check and came back to double check it was correct not once but twice. We looked at the check and said wow figured it would’ve been more but the server double checked it so we gave our credit cards to split it 3 ways. When we got our cards back we were charged double compared to the check that was double checked by our server. I asked to speak to the manager who wasn’t empathic at all and did ABSOLUTELY nothing to fix her server mistake besides make excuse after excuse of why this happened. We would’ve totally been okay with receiving a higher charge if the server had owned up to her mistake instead of simply dropping the checks back off and running away. The manager kept telling us there was nothing she could do to make up for their mistake. I will not be going back here ever again. Service was terrible.

We have tried calling multiple times to address this incident but you never responded. Your server did err and handed you the wrong bill (for less than half your meal). She was checking something else, not that you had the correct bill. When she realized and tried to explain you refused and demanded the manager. You never let the manager speak or explain, but berated her. She asked multiple times for an opportunity to speak and you kept talking over her. In 20+ years of experience she has never had a guest as rude or obnoxious as you. We even voided your payment so you could see the original balance, but you never listened. As a result you never actually paid for your bill and walked out on a $200 check. Our staff deserve to be treated respectfully. You are banned from our business.

The food was great! However, even though the restaurant was not crowded, I felt rushed my the wait staff. The food did makeup for that and I will return.

Food was great and appropriately priced. Service was off but it appeared to be a coordination issue. Though we had reservation for two we were seated at a table for four so the server waited thinking we were waiting for others. Twice we were asked if others were coming. A food server brought food before original server brought drinks. Manager apparently not on floor solving problems.

Terrible service. Decent food. Seemed poorly managed, under staffed, not enough menus, rez noted a bjirthdsy occasion that was ignored, hot miso splashed on the table - waitress set it down aggressively. Crispy rice tuna app was super chewy, not very crispy. The only good thing was the fish. The rest of the food and service was bad. Asked for a cocktail with one ingredient change politely. Waitress scouled in disgust and painfully said “okay”. Never again wasting my time there.
