Napa Valley Bistro was opened in 2013 by chefs Bernardo Ayala and Ernesto Martinez, (also co-owner of Market in St. Helena). Their friendship and working relationship, which has lasted over 20 years was so successful, they decided to pool their resources and stake a claim in downtown Napa's expanding culinary scene. Their aim was to create their own version of classic world cuisine in a comfortable space where family and community could gather for any occasion. The twist is evident in the menus, which sample fare from around the globe. Guests can choose from traditionally prepared Mexican Empanadas or timeless American favorites like the Lamb Burger and St. Louis Ribs. Other options include Vegetarian Spring Rolls, Chinese Chicken Salad and Seasonal Risotto. Our Wine & Beer List includes local wines leaning toward small producers & craft brews.

    We had a lovely birthday dinner tonight and the food was exceptional as always! Wait staff and management are all so nice and caring. NV Bistro has been a favorite since the day they opened.

    From the greeting at the entrance to the waitress, the food and the exit, the entire experience was amazing. The manager was fantastic and treated us like royalty. Loved the evening. Thanks for taking such good care of us.

    Service and food were both excellent. Our server was very attentive. Braised short ribs were especially good.

    Good value restaurant with great food & service! A little noisier than usual, it just could have been where we chose to sit. Salmon was excellent!

    This restaurant allowed us to visit with two friends we had not seen for awhile and to carry on a conversation that everyone could hear. The service was attentive but not intrusive. The Caesar salad I ate with a piece of grilled chicken was acceptable but not of high quality. The romaine seemed prepackaged and the small croutons came from a box. So, the food was disappointing but since the most important part was having a quiet visit, it worked.

    The service was excellent. Every person that greeted and served our table was a high quality teammate. But the food was very subpar. :( It wasn’t served hot. We ordered 3 appetizers/small plates and two entrees. All popular items we were told. The filet mignon was like warm and actually was NOT a cut of filet mignon. Not sure what kind of beef it was?!&@?! The short ribs resembled beef stew and tasted like chuck roast. The lobster had great flavor but was also lukewarm. The lobster was also served with a vegetable medley / corn, green beans that tasted like it came out of a frozen bag or can… Truly disappointing. Not worth the $$.

    Our table was waiting for us at the assigned reservation time on New Years Eve. Very friendly and fast service. Delicious food. We had a wonderful time and highly recommend this hidden gem.
