The menu selections were extensive, including some of the items George Washington himself loved! We sampled the hoecakes (delicious) and peanut soup, which was a very rich and creamy soup that reminded me of French onion soup. My spouse had the French Toast off the Brunch Menu: it came with a side of cottage potatoes. I chose the Caesar salad with grilled chicken breast: don’t skip their croutons which are memorable. The portions were more than enough for us—especially the salad! We were seated in one of the many different rooms in a high traffic area which in hindsight I would avoid due to the noise and general commotion. The river view at sunset was lovely and the appetizers with warm cider and a creamy delicate bisque were Amazing! Service seemed a little disorganized which initially delayed libations but everyone was so friendly and the atmosphere was so nice (if a bit on the chilly side; bring a sweater) we just used the time for conversation. The meal was served family style for 2, portions were perfect and the right temperature (no small feat). The turkey leg confit (?) was excellent as was the dressing! A generous desert sampler ended the meal which was fun - - we enjoyed it but also sort wondered how great a pie of their creation would have been.
