The menu follows a Southern-fried meat-and-three concept, meaning diners order a meat, plus three sides. Those will include Ruthie’s mac and cheese, of course, but also white-soy-braised greens, stewed chickpeas and smoked cauliflower with a spicy soy glaze. “We’re going to be changing it a lot based on seasonality,” Hill says of the menu. “ Every vegetable has got to be fantastic because it has to stand on its own.” One thing that will help that: Hill is already growing all of the restaurant’s own herbs at his South Arlington community garden plot.

Chef Eugenia Hobson and her team prepare authentic Greek dishes served attentively in a breezy Aegean-inspired atmosphere.     We thoroughly enjoyed our experience at Firebirds. The food was delicious, and the serving sizes were really good. The price point was very doable. Our server MICHELLE was AMAZING!! She was able to recommend dishes, she was very patient with my indecisive husband, and she was very intuitive. She knew what we needed before we even asked for it. She staggered the arrival of our food so that nothing sat and got cold while we were eating another course. I will definitely be back!!!

    We once again enjoyed our meals at Ruthie's All Day in Arlington, VA. I had the Curried Shrimp and my wife had the Grilled Salmon. Our sides of greens, arugula & fennel salad, macaroni & cheese and coleslaw were excellent, as usual. We shared the Hush Puppies appetizer and the Maple Apple Cobbler dessert, which were also excellent. I had two cups of very good chamomile tea. Our server was very good, as we've come to expect at Ruthie's.

    Very good food, excellent service by Samy, lovely atmosphere with the music at low volume so conversation was easy. The Bottomless Lunch is a great value. Steak skewers, Brussels sprouts, fungi pizza, and crispy potatoes were highlights!

    We had a delightful lunch and the restaurant was decorated very nice and festive. Our food was very good and the service by Keenan couldn’t have been better or more professional. We will definitely return again soon! Also the front staff were very welcoming!
