We are happy to welcome dogs into our bar area. The restaurant does not allow dogs except for service dogs. Please make us aware of any dogs you have with you upon booking. Please note, we only serve food in the Bar from 12-6 Monday to Saturdays (excluding Sundays when we exclusively serve food in our restaurant). On Sundays we exclusively serve our 4 Course Sunday Roast Menu and our set menu is available Monday-Thursday in our restaurant.The Tartar Frigate is one of the only 18th century flint restaurants in Kent. The Captain Digby, a family friendly restaurant and bar which caters for all ages & occasions, with sea views overlooking Kingsgate Bay. We serve generously portioned fresh, home cooked food from our bar, restaurant & children's menu. Food is served from 12 noon each day, all day until late check our operating hours before arrival.Choose from our family dining area, close to our indoor play area or our cliff top restaurant with sea views. Alfresco dining is available with 40 benches overlooking the bay but these are non-reservable and work on a first come first served basis. Please note we can not guarantee window tables. We do not allow dogs inside our venue but they are welcome in our outside dining areas. Being so close to the shoreline we tend to have issues regarding internet connections and advise all customers also bring cash as an alternative payment.

Overlooking the sea & beach, with lovely food. There was a really good choice menu & the dishes we had were amazing, big portions (too much for me personally lol) It was my birthday & as always I spend it with my mum. She had the sea bass followed by ice cream & I had the duck & bread n butter pudding with custard for dessert! Was all delicious 😋 would highly recommend this restaurant. The staff were efficient & friendly! Overall a lovely day!

Great vibe as soon as we arrived. Staff very welcoming. Food order was taken promptly and food arrived in good time, hot and the flavours were the star of the show. Some of the best bbq food we’ve ever tasted. Plenty of food from the platter for the 4 of us. Great value. Staff very engaging when questioned about the different meats they have etc. Can’t wait to try more at the new restaurant & hopefully see Smoke & Co at food festivals in years to come. 10/10 would recommend.
