West Malling, widely considered the gastro-capital of the Maidstone area, offers a wide range of restaurants and Pad Thai is it’s finest South East Asian offering, tempting in diners from across the South East. One of the reasons could be the combination of olde worlde Tudor building and traditionally inviting Thai inspired décor, another could be the warm welcome and excellent service but undoubtedly the main draw would be the unsurpassed food. Open Tuesday to Sunday with food served all day from noon.We now have 3 Giant heated Tipis, they provide lots of fresh air and a lovely open environment, they are also heated.Formerly an 18th Century farmhouse boasting exposed beams, oak floors, exposed brickwork and oak tables. This leads to a very relaxed and cosy atmosphere with candle lit tables and real flame stoves.The cuisine is typically modern European, classically cooked using cornerstones such as stock pots to create their sauces with a brigade that has a passion for what they do. This is exciting times for the pub which now has a new bar serving real ale straight from the cask. Be sure to check out the website regularly to keep up with the latest events and offers.

The Plough isn't your average countryside pub. Sitting on a quiet lane in a quintessentially English village, The Plough was set to be sold off the developers when 120 members of the community came together to invest, and save, their local. After its purchase and renovation, the Yates family took over the kitchen and opened the pub's small, but proud, restaurant, Bowleys. Head Chef Alex Yates is still very early on in his career but though only in his early twenties, he has already spent two years in the kitchens at The Goring Hotel in London, as well as having gained experience with Rick Stein and even once cooking for the Queen. Bowleys menus have a traditional feel and adhere to classic, English fare with a fine dining twist. There are several options to choose between including a tasting menu, set lunch, a la carte, brunch and Sunday lunch. The tasting menu is the jewel in Bowleys crown and consists of five courses, with an optional sixth.

Alim-Et in Larkfield is one of the best and most popular Turkish restaurants in the area. It’s a family-run spot on London Road that’s open for breakfast, lunch and dinner.     I chose St Leonard’s for a joint birthday celebration with a special girlfriend. Our lunch really was a wonderful experience from beginning to end. From ensuring we were given a quiet table (a written request in my Open Table booking), to the warm and friendly welcome; attentive, professional staff; the beautiful surroundings; the delicious, artfully prepared food. Really wonderful. We decided on the spot that St Leonard’s will become the annual location for our joint birthday celebration, plus other celebrations in between! Thank you chef and all the staff at St Leonard’s for all you do to provide such a terrific experience.

    The food was outstanding with very friendly staff just to top it off. A very nice evening all round. So nice to find such a lovely restaurant in close proximity to home.

    Can't recommend this highly enough! Food was outstanding, and for fine dining, quite a lot of it! You won't go hungry! A good balanced wine list, and friendly competent staff. Everything was just amazing and my friends and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Michelin star quality for better value!
