No. 246 offers “OG” red sauce, classic Italian – a reimagined direction that marks a new era for the Decatur gem, paying homage to the old-school, Italian dining scenes of yesteryear. From chefs Drew Belline and Ford Fry, the menu showcases the likes of spicy rigatoni vodka and a bowl of meatballs in gravy plus remixed, throwback to classics like calamari marinara, cheesy garlic bread, Nonna-approved pizzas and pastas and secondi crowd-pleasers like chicken al limone and shrimp scampi – plus classic cocktails and a carefully curated wine list of American and Italian standouts.     Fantastic waiter. Have not had service this good in a while in Decatur (or really anywhere). Food was solid as usual.

    We went for the New Years Eve prix fixe dinner. Having spent many celebratory occasions at No. 246 (including our engagement party in 2018), I was overall underwhelmed by the value of the meal and think you can get a better nice dinner elsewhere. My gripes: 1) Our waiter didn’t introduce himself. I couldn’t tell you his name. 2) The first thing he said to us was, “Alright, I’m gonna need you to lock in.” 3) Then he also said, “I’m gonna come back and take your order all at once. That’ll be the time to ask questions.” Just a really weird, brusque tableside manner that made us feel anxious and sped up. 4) Wine pours were small. For a $50 add on, I left feeling sober despite 4 glasses. Food was good but like I said earlier, there’s better Italian in the city. Maybe it was a stressful, off night, but it left much to be desired.

    We love No 246. Was disappointed by the NYE fixed menu and the wine pairings. We will be back, but not for an occasion like this.
