Oceana is the quintessential New York Seafood restaurant located on 49th Street in midtown Manhattan, just west of Rockefeller Center, and steps away from Radio City Music Hall and Broadway's famed theaters. Oceana serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner in the elegant main dining room for a sophisticated dining experience. For a more casual setting enjoy an Oceana signature cocktail reflecting the freshest seasonal ingredients with small bites (or a full meal!) in our lively cafe and Oyster bar.

    The food at Oceana is delicious, but the service was horrible! I am shocked that a restaurant of this caliber could have such poor service. We were ignored for 30 minutes before we were able to flag someone down to order drinks. We never received food menus, we had to ask for them. Then, after our appetizers were cleared, we weren't asked if we wanted to order dinner. We had to again wave someone down to order. They barely spoke to us and everything that I would expect of standard service was ignored, such as asking us if we wanted another drink, anything else to eat, or even asking how everything was tasting. I love the food at Oceana, but I would hesitate before going back again unfortunately.

    Wonderful dining experience at Oceana. The service was impeccable, food delicious, and ambiance was just right for my birthday dinner. We ordered the pre-theater menu items, chose seafood, i.e., calamari, oysters, skate, fruitti de mare, and a delicious parfait dessert. To top it off a chocolate mousse cake was brought to the table with a candle. Needless to say, we’ll be back the next time in NYC!

    The Lobster Scampi had a faint smell of ammonia, a sure sign of lobster meat past its expiration date. I’ve enjoyed this dish many times over the years at Oceana, but today’s dish was a terrible experience. Update 1/9/25: Oceana called me directly to follow up on this review. I was initially positively surprised that they cared enough to follow up, but the person proceeded to ask about my experience then flatly stated that it could not have been an ammonia smell, but possibly tarragon, and that I should not have “vented” by posting my review. An unprofessional, unwelcome response that left a sour taste in my mouth.

    Oceana is an excellent choice for pre theater dining. The price fixed three course dinner has diverse options and perfect portion sizes. The restaurant is large and spacious, not your typical NYC space. The wait staff are polite, professional, and accommodating. The location on 6th avenue and 49th is a short walk to the theater district and the food is always delicious!

    The pre-theater menu was excellent, I had grilled octopus, hake with broccoli rabe, and sorbet for dessert with the wine pairing. Our sommelier Matthew was fun and informative, offering novel combinations including a mellon liquer with dessert. Oceana is a great alternative to restaurants that are closer to the monster shows but don't offer much novelty or interest for me. We will return!

    The food was outstanding! The Catskills Chicken Bourguignon was amazing and the blending of the savory flavors with the Scottish Salmon was delicious.

    Wonderful dinner and excellent service. Loved the octopus appetizer and swordfish entree. So well-seasoned and flavorful! Attentive servers also made sure we finished in time to make it to the theater without being rushed. Pricey but definitely worth it.
