   We have been to Octavia many times, but this time we were very disappointed. The noise level was extraordinary. The service was fine, except for an inordinate wait between appetizer and main course.  The tables were so close. It was like we were a foursome with the table beside us. There were only three choices for main course and two choices for dessert. Octavia is off our list.

   With the passing of several of our favorite places near the civic center, we branched out to some slightly more distant restaurants. We tried Octavia on a friends recommendation: it’s a knockout! It doesn’t have the pretension of a Michelin starred restaurant, but it has all the flavor. The space is lovely, the staff is warm and friendly, but food…. So delicious!

   Octavia is one of our favorite neighborhood restaurants. Love the menu, the staff, and the vibe. We had to sit outside, which is charming and well heated, but we miss the room energy, and you do feel forgotten at times. Nonetheless, we will be back!

   We followed our servers' suggestion to sample the small plates -- we got three and then two pastas. Everything was so delicious. Top picks were the morels with mushrooms and chicken, the croquettes with pecorino, and the cassarecce pasta with sunchoke sauce. Dessert of almond ice cream with salted Caramel accompanied by diplomat and chocolate mousseline was also delicious.

   Lovely spot for dinner. Everything from the service, the incredible food, and the atmosphere was perfect. I would highly recommend it for a date night with the ladies or a romantic dinner. We noticed how seamlessly the staff worked together and they were only there when we needed them. The standout items were the artichokes and the beet salad, next time we will try more entrees.

    Octavia was an incredible dinner. Great menu with a few things I didn’t recognize, but our server was extremely gracious and so helpful. It was a little crowded and loud at times, but overall a great atmosphere that was obviously very thoughtfully curated. The rockfish crudo was definitely the standout dish as far as starters. The chicory salad was incredible, perfectly dressed and the watermelon radish was so tasty. The main dishes we got (risotto and agnolotti) and were both great, maybe a little underwhelming as far as flavor complexity, but definitely still amazing dishes. Finally the semifreddo for dessert was so good, perfect ending dish. Overall a great experience with great service and great food.
