At Olamaie, Southern food rooted in love and tradition is complemented by contemporary culinary techniques. Chef de Cuisine Amanda Turner breathes new life into the culinary legacy of the South by marrying her various inspirations drawn from the African diaspora in the south and beyond in collaboration with Executive Chef/Owner Michael Fojtasek.

Olamaie is the first name of five generations of women in Executive Chef Michael Fojtasek’s family. His mother, grandmother, great grandmother, great-great-grandmother and now his daughter all honor the name with their shared patience, acceptance of others, boundless love, and soulful allegiance to food.

    The food was very good! There were so many flies in around the tables, it felt like we were eating on the patio. The butter beans were heavenly.

    We had an amazing experience at Olamaie for my sister’s birthday celebration. It was a group of 6 visiting from Seattle and Los Angeles and this was one of the best dining experiences we’ve all had. Our server Matthew was friendly, knowledgeable and attentive. Chef Amanda also came over to our table to say hello and was very generous with her time. The food was all amazing and the service impeccable. We were also pleasantly surprised at how reasonably priced our meal was. This was my second time dining at Olamaie, with the last time in 2018 and it was as great, if not better than I remembered. A must do when in Austin!!

    Great night out. Food is delicious. The butter beans are a must try. Staff is friendly and fun to talk to. Sit at the bar, you won’t be disappointed.

    Excellent food & crafted cocktails, friendly service. The Gulf shrimp with red rice was a stand out & biscuits are legendary for a reason. Only area that could be improved - below average wine list and lack of variety of wine by the glass options.

    The service was outstanding. They were as welcoming and attentive as a 1-2 Michelin Star restaurant. We enjoyed our food and the little house is lovely.
