    Super Restaraunt. Very good atmosphere, friendly wait staff, very good price point. Reservations are highly recommended as this is a local go-to. There are four bars in the restaurant, one in each corner. So, while this is a white linen dining experience, you must not think of it as posh or fine dining given the tavern extraordinaire atmosphere. It obviously has the DC charm of “Cheers” sans Norm and Sam, with a kicked up level regarding the dining. Very tasty meal, great selection of cuisine. I highly recommend OEG.

    The restaurant was filled with what seemed like an unusually large and cacophonous complement of Christmas diners, which contributed to a carnival atmosphere. While somewhat festive, the ambience was chaotic, with an insufficient number of servers trying to keep things running smoothly. The veggie burger served on toast was outstanding, and I washed it down with several glasses of a soft Côtes du Rhône, a couple of which were free after the servers had forgotten my requests for more. I’m hoping that the Grill will return to its usual standard after the holiday crush ends.

    Food was outstanding as always. We tried different things this time. The crab cakes were amazing! The vegetarian sandwich was very good and the butternut squash appetizer was one of the most amazing things I’ve ever eaten. The bread pudding was delicious. Our server was a little bit curt and it was our anniversary. It was in the reservation. The server wished us a happy anniversary when she first approached us and that was it. I didn’t want anything free…but if they had done something at the end of the meal to acknowledge our special night, would have been appreciated. We will return over and again-we love the Old Ebbitt Grill, but this time it had a different feel.

    First time here. Fortunately we had reservations and were seated promptly. We ordered a variety of dishes including a dozen oysters, George’s scallops. The meatloaf was great. The short ribs were very tender and the veggies it was served with complimented them. We had to pass on the desserts although they sounded wonderful and eneded with cappuccino Great to read about Ebbitt history and see some of the decor
