Small and romantic we specialize in celebrations with family and friends, or just a quiet dinner with good conversation. We are family owned and operated and have been serving our community since 2001.

Drive in to Opera Alley and be transported. We strive to bring approachable food and beverage, a sense of comfort and community, as well as a unique and quality dining experience. We call ourselves a "cafe" in the sense that we are not pretentious and offer a fine dining experience in an atmosphere of comfort and respite.

Parking in Opera Alley, and downtown, can be a bit of a challenge, especially on the weekends, so please be sure to give yourself plenty of time when making reservations to find a parking space, or consider a night off from driving and get an Uber or Lift!! Eat good food often, break bread with friends and family, spend time with those you love, and we will see you soon.

    Way too expensive. Meal consisted of one Starter, and two main course dishes. No alcohol. With no tip: $100. Food was pretty good, but not worth what we paid. Over The Moon is very small. You sit very close to the table next to you. Too close. The service was great.

    Over the Moon Cafe is truly a unique experience in Tacoma. Nothing here is just OK ... it is exceptional. You have the option of getting a basket of sourdough bread ... but it's not fast to the table because it is baked fresh. The bread was still steaming when it came to the table ... and that's a good thing. The food is always hot and I doubt the restaurant even has a steam or heat lamp table. The lobster mac and cheese was really good, as was the scallops risotto. Both were very rich and we couldn't finish them. This is a wonderful place for celebrations and we will go back there again.

    So glad we discovered this place. The ambiance feels somewhere between an Edwardian parlor and a fortune teller’s den—-in other words, cozy with a tinge of brio. Food was amazing. The short rib ragu was one of the best pasta dishes I’ve ever had. The short ribs were tender, and I think the main ingredient in the pasta sauce was happiness. My wife ordered the chicken cacciatore, which I just finished for breakfast this morning, on the verge of tears because it’s now gone. That polenta. . . omg! Overall, the value is decent. I don’t mind paying a few bucks for excellent food, and the fare at Over the Moon was worth every penny.

    Really a nice spot, tucked away , excellent food , service and ambience . The temperature was good and the noise level was low. We were looked after and enjoyed everything!

    A great restaurant. Daniel the Executive Chef offers a terrific menu that will satisfy many guests. The presentation is excellent and I highly recommend Over the Moon for any occasion.

    Very intimate atmosphere. Music was perfect - sound track was relaxing and the volume wasn’t too loud. Now about the food - I wish I could replicate the butter on the ribeye at home… like wow. Ordered the streak medium and it was cooked to perfection! The lasagna might be the best lasagna I’ve ever tasted. If I wasn’t visiting from out of town I would have ordered a second lasagna to go!

    We had a great time and the service was a step above. Appetizers came out and presented well and tasted amazing (Shrimp, and also crab bisque). The sourdough bread was also very fresh. On to the entrees ( Ribeye steak and Duck Breast and as a side we also got lobster Mac). The lobster mac was very good. Not a huge fan of the duck, felt like eating raw meat and very chewy. The steak had lots of flavor but also had lots of fat on it, about 30% of the steak was fat. But was prepared to medium per server recommendation because of the fat, which we usually like medium rare . The sides that came with our meals were made perfectly. All in all I give it about a 6 out of 10 score.
