Peninsula Grill is an AAA Four-Diamond restaurant located in the heart of Charleston’s renowned Historic District. Had visited this restaurant several times, visited it this time based on past experience, however , This time the meal was very average and a bit if a disappointment. I can think of 30 restaurants i have visited in Charleston that I would return to, not this one! Paul, our server , was very personable and efficient. For what this meal and wine cost , the quality of the meal was far below what we anticipated.

One of my favorite restaurants. I usually get the Wagyu Steak when I go. However, the price doubled on this most recent visit, and I was told by the waiter it was $240 for 4 oz. I was told the price increased to be comparable with Halls Chophouse. However, Halls’ Wagyu Steak is $35 per ounce ($140/ 4 oz). So, I didn’t get the Wagyu steak, and due to price, I’m not certain that I’d return there again. I do enjoy the food, ambience, and service at Peninsula Grill, but several menu changes over the years along with increasing prices have made me less excited about going.

We had a wonderful New Year’s Eve dinner this year at Peninsula Grill. Our server who was the only female outside (I can’t remember her name unfortunately) was fabulous. She was so personable and passionate about her job. She made sure everyone was always taken care of. The food was wonderful.

Our server was phenomenal! She was very patient and knowledgeable about the menu and gave us recommendations when needed. Every part of the meal was paced well and we didn’t feel rushed through service at all. We sat outside in the courtyard at night; the lights and the heaters to keep us warm added to the ambiance. We initially decided to eat here because of the coconut cake and are so glad we decided to go there for dinner! The grouper was amazing, the mussels delicious, the she crab soup was one of the best I’ve ever had, and the coconut cake was divine. We will definitely be dining here again when we visit Charleston in the future!

We have eaten here for over 20 years. The food was excellent (swordfish and the short ribs) with excellent service. Every time in Charleston we dine here. The Planters Inn is also a nice place to stay.

One of the best meals we’ve ever had. We arrived very early, and were greeted kindly and seated right away. Our waiter was excellent. The food was perfectly done, and was outstanding. We would come back in a heartbeat! Special mention to the crab soup, the filet mignon and the crème brûlée, but everything was great.

First of all, we were asked to wait for 25 min in the parlor/entrance of the hotel as our table was not ready - in my opinion this is such a disrespectful way to welcome your guests especially if we showed up right on time. The dining room is very small with tables literally an inch away from each other - not a nice setting nor a romantic atmosphere at all. The center cut fillet and NY strip steak were just mediocre, nothing special with the presentation of the plate either despite the high price points. Please don’t bother booking dinner at this restaurant - any other place would certainly do better!

I felt like the server was overwhelmed. She actually took the cucumber bowl from the table while we were still eating it. I don’t know that we will go back.
