Specializing in fine French cuisine, La Foret has earned its place among the area's finest restaurants and in fact has been listed among the 50 best French restaurants in the United States.     After years of absence, I was pleased to see a roast chicken on the menu and indeed enjoyed the choice. So now the Black Sheep can actually count as a "French" restaurant; chicken being given the same dedicated care in France as the Japanese pay to the feeding, harvesting, transport and preparing of fish. My companion enjoyed her hearty beef rib on risotto. I was disappointed to see my "go to" menu item at the previous days at Black Sheep, moules frits. (mussels & fried potato sticks) to be dropped from the choices in the new menu...perhaps it will be slipped back in soon.

    We ordered tasting menus.  All dishes including the dessert were good. The service was attentive and friendly. We liked the cozy ambiance.

    Everything was excellent. When we travel to San Jose to visit our son, this is our favorite spot. We choose this restaurant 3 or 4 times a week during our visits. Yesterday and today were the same great experiences.

    This was an excellent choice for a date night with my husband. We did the 4 course Prix Fixe and it was delicious. Dont miss the Crab and Uni souffle! The food was delicious and we left feeling perfectly satiated!
