Owner Brian Piccini is proud of his award-winning Restaurant & Bar, Deuxave in the Back Bay. Nested in Uphams Corner, Dorchester, we're a lively and intimate 30-seat restaurant serving brunch on the weekend and dinner at night with a full bar and outdoor patio. The Merchant is a big space that served for more than a century as a leather store. We've brought in high-top tables near the windows ... a 40-foot bar on one side of the room … and more formal dining spots on the opposite side. We have a private dining room in back, and another private dining room downstairs. For our menu, we make almost all of our fare from scratch. Executive chef Ignacio Lopez previously worked at both Beat Hotel in Cambridge and Tuscan Kitchen in Burlington. Chef Lopez cures and smokes all the meat in house. Our burger is top-notch, as are other dishes like house-made Gnochhi, Organic Chicken Milanaise and Steak Frites. The Merchant serves salads, sandwiches ($15-$21), and more for the lunch rush. And for dinner, we are a full-service brasserie (with most entrees ranging from $25-$30). The bar has 30+ rotating beers on tap, many of them locally brewed, plus a full selection of craft cocktails to serve our patrons, including the after-work crowd.

    Went here for Valentine’s Day and had the 5 course tasting menu, no wine pairing. Sea Bass and Steak were both excellent. The meringue desert ice cream / sorbet with sponge cake was also fantastic. Overall, left satisfied with the food and service, but the restaurant is very overpriced.

    The food was amazing. Perhaps the best mussels we’ve ever tasted. Also greatly enjoyed fish, octopus, halloumi, and the fresh crisp salad. Our head server was Mario, and he made our birthday celebration soar. He was so attentive to our party, asking early about allergies, and checking an hour later if we could have a different type of nut. 6 stars for Mario!

    The Venetian is our favorite spot to go to. It’s very warm and welcoming and the food continues to be creative and very good. We especially like the pasta dishes as they are homemade with organic flour and the pork chop and steaks never a disappointment.

    We were here for dinner on the day before Valentine’s day. There was a small group of diners at the restaurant which we appreciated as it was not busy and the noise level was low. We shared a caesar salad and complimentary bread rolls which were warm. He had the haddock classic entree while I had the crab and shrimp classic. Dessert was molten chocolate cake with ice cream. Our server Jess Knight did a fantastic job - was appropriately attentive and answered all my questions about the menu! This felt like a special romantic experience and I am looking forward to returning!!!
