Tapas originated in Andalucia, a Southern province of Spain, and are considered a fundamental way of life. These tasty small dishes are traditional Spanish dishes found in every bar, cafe, restaurant, and home. A tapa is an appetizer or snack in Spanish cuisine that can be combined to make a full meal and can be cold (such as mixed olives and cheese) or hot (such as gambas al ajillo (shrimp in garlic) or patatas bravas). We wanted to bring this culinary experience to the heart of East Greenwich creating a shareable experience, transporting our guests to Southern Spain with a variety of diverse flavors and wine pairings that will entice their tastebuds.

Leo’s was first opened in 1948 by Italian immigrants Pantaleone (Leo) Mancieri and his wife Virginia (Nonni). Established mainly as a pizzeria in the State Street section of Bristol, the restaurant quickly gained a local following and served as a popular lunch destination for workers and families alike. Leo and Virginia, along with sons Mario and Reno, worked tirelessly to produce great fresh Italian favorites and create a friendly environment for their customers.The original Leo’s remained open until 1976 when the family decided to close after Leo passes away, and in the year 2000 Leo’s grandson, Paul Mancieri, relocated to 365 Hope Street in the heart of historic downtown Bristol. I have been to Hemenway's in the past and this restaurant never ceases to be top notch. The Service (shoutout to Mia!) was fantastic and the food and atmosphere outstanding. I highly recommend Hemenway's. We were celebrating an anniversary and it was pretty cool that our table was sprinkled with rose petals and we were greeted numerous times with a hearty "Happy Anniversary! by a number of the wait staff and greeters(?). Absolutely one of my favorite restaurants anywhere!
