Café Berlin has been serving authentic German cuisine on Capitol Hill since 1985. It occupies the ground floor of three townhouses whose front yards serve as Biergarten for outdoor dining. The interior features a small bar and two cozy dining rooms. The restaurant is located within a short walking distance of Union Station and the U.S. Capitol. It draws politicians, congressional staffer, and tourists as well a loyal following of neighborhood residents. The traditional dishes are authentically prepared with lighter touch by chefs with extensive experience in German cuisine. In addition to the regular menu, the restaurant offer seasonally changing menus that feature fresh asparagus in the spring, salads and light fares in the summer, Bavarian dishes during Oktoberfest in the fall, and wild game in the winter. Everything was excellent. The appetizers, we got the mushrooms on a waffle and pork belly steamed buns, were a great start. The venison and sausage and the sea bass and mussels were beautifully plated as well as delicious. I had the beef stew and ponme frites, which was quite hardy. The chef was visiting with customers and staff, making the atmosphere relaxed. We loved our time at Belga Cafe.

The food was wonderful. The service was exceptional. Great selection of both food and drink. And as someone who just got back from Europe, the Belgian theme and flavor was all spot on.

Plenty of TVs but the sound only focuses on one TV. Service is good. The food was delish even though a bit pricey. I imagine the convenience/location makes this a great place to hang pre-game or during happy hour.
